The Berlin International Film Festival has begun and Father Geek is hoping to receive many reports on the Fest and its attendees because several important films are being unveilled there over the next several days.

I write to you from Germany and I ask me, why there are no informations about the 'Berlinale' (Berlin) on AICN? Are the readers not interested in that?

The festival take place on the new Potzdamer Platz in Berlin. The fist movie was 'Duell - Enemy At The Gates'. The audience was a little bit disappointed. So I hope that I can get a ticket for HANNIBAL on Feb. 11th. Kirk Douglas will be honored by the Berlin International Film Festival with a 'Golden Bear for Lifetime Achievement' Also interesting: Retrospective 2001: The world premiere of a newly reconstructed version of Fritz Lang's METROPOLIS! And a re-release of 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY!
With 16 world premieres, the main competition program of the 51st Berlin International Film Festival is now complete. 24 feature films and 11 short films will compete for the prestigious Golden and Silver Bears, awarded by a jury of nine members chaired by the American producer Bill Mechanic.
