Hey folks, Harry here... If MEMENTO is the brilliant film we keep hearing, then it looks like INSOMNIA might be in wonderful hands. The original is brilliant, and the remake was at one point thought to be featuring Jonathon Demme as director and Harrison Ford as the star... well now it seems that Christopher Nolan might nab the helming position with Pacino starring. Though take it with big grains of salt... we've been hearing weird stuff out of European Newspapers recently... But if true, this could be quite cool!
Hi Harry.
The Norwegian newspaper 'Dagbladet' reported that George Clooney and Steven Soderbergh will be the producers behind the US version of 'Insomnia' through their company Section Eight. Personally I would have loved to see Soderbergh direct it too, but at the moment they have pegged Christopher Nolan to direct. Memento hasn't made it's way up here yet, but from the rave reviews it's been getting, it doesn't sound like a bad idea. To star in it they are looking at Al Pacino. This I am not all that happy about. Don't get me wrong, I think Al is one of the greatest actors ever. I just don't think he's right for this part. There is no room for a 'Pacino - moment' (aka 'The speech') in Insomnia in my opinion.
But then again, what do I know?
