As many of you have probably guessed, I don't have a $400 million dollar 10 picture deal with Warner Brothers and Chris Pula as my partner. I'm not making a $399 million dollar FABULOUS FURRY FREAK BROTHERS movie.
I received about 3000 emails today. 99% said something along the lines of, "Nice try Harry, but you can't fool me, it's April 1st, and you don't have a deal with Warners!!! Thanks for the laugh!" or to some degree something else expressing the same thing.
In the 3000 emails only ONE PERSON caught the entire APRIL FOOLS. Moriarty, is the sole reader that realized that not only did I not have a deal with Warners, but that Luc Besson was not making BELLE ET LA BETE and that Guillermo Del Toro was not making a Spanish-language version of Curse of the Demon, that was sent to Cannes. So officially, MORIARTY IS NO FOOL!!!
However, the rest of ya... Don't feel so bad. MAJOR media magazines and resources were following the leads of the Besson and Del Toro articles. Digital Domain was contacted. Guillermo was contacted. I was told that Besson's people were too. I got a letter from someone that told me that they worked for Cannes and guaranteed me that they hadn't received Guillermo's film! I was contacted by unnamed magazines and television entertainment shows, wanting to know about the Luc Besson and Guillermo pieces. THEN they BEGGED me not to name them. Not to say that these daily official resources could be fooled into investigating a story created solely from my noggin on APRIL FOOL'S DAY!!!
So just because most of you were fooled by those two don't feel bad. BECAUSE some fell for it all. Yes, I know it sounds impossible. But there were actually some people that believed I was producing a $399 million dollar FABULOUS FURRY FREAK BROTHER film. Some wanted a job, some just to tell me I'm an inspiration. I spent most of the day smiling from ear to ear. I love APRIL FOOLS DAY. The only day I get to be 100% full of it!!!
Here are some of the unfortunate types that believed it all. I love this day, I think I will only get married if it's on April Fool's Day. What a tradition!

To the unknown person who wrote the below. Get a day planner. Go to 4-1-99, write down, "Don't believe in anything on this day!"
I've been visiting your web-site on a daily basis for quite some time now, and enjoy reading the info you provide film geeks such as myself.
I was rather surprised when I read your message regarding your new film deal at Warner Bros. As a matter of fact, my jaw dropped. I couldn't believe it. The amount of money you listed was staggering. I would just like to take a moment to congradulate you on this major accomplishment. There are many people out there (myself included) who have "dream projects" that they hope to someday produce/direct. The fact that you managed to lauch yours through such an untraditional route is mind-blowing. Again, my hat goes off to you.
This summer, I have an internship set up at CNN, but I would quickly brush that aside to work on your new film. It all sounds very exciting. I'm a dedicated, loyal, hard-working, creative individual who would be an asset to any production. A lot of your personality shines though on your web page, and I can tell you right now that you and I would get along perfectly. I have a sharp wit that you would enjoy, as well as a profound passion towards film. I know that you must be rather bussy at this point, so I'll let you go. Thanks for the time.

I've got this bridge in San Francisco, it's pretty nice really, the toll would be worth a fortune, but if you act now you get these ginsu knives of death!!! Actually, glad you want to see the movie. Maybe one day, when the moon is full and the sky is purple and marshmellow clouds float by...
I'm sure I'm not the first to tell you this but congrats.
I can't wait to see it. I'll be there opening week! I promise.
There's only a couple things I'd like you to do with this film. One is to release the script online like they did for "The Sweet Herafter" and to follow your film every single step of the way on your website.
I was amazed when I saw you were producing a pic on your front page. Then I was even more amazed when you said 3 hrs and 15 mins costing $399 million!
You know Warner really trusts you when it puts off I AM LEGEND and SUPERMAN. I trust you too.

Then this is the person who most wanted to see the FREAKS BROTHERS in a cinemaplex near you. Tis sad for sure, but who knows what the future holds... hell I might get a production deal one day, and damn, I'd consider it as a project... but for a lower budget...
The sad thing is, your little jest is also the most exciting film project of the last ten years--and, thanks to the "Freak Bros Movie" back cover on one of the IDIOTS issues, one I've fantasized about for years. If they hassle you about the live nukes, do what Jim Boy did and go to Mexico--I hear you kin git away with put-near anythang down there. And if you save the full-scale, working glider farm, you'll be able to tether it over your dad's house and supplement your income (having spent every dime of the Dubba's dough on rendering the Fundaligionist/Col. Cornbelt/Andre the Hyena World Order WITHOUT special effects. (I can't wait to see how you handle the millions of pilgrims running ACROSS Loch Ness--and you'll have to breed a new race of little Nessies, too... this could take awhile...)
I've got my seven bucks ready, man. Roll 'em!
