Once’n again found myself at the Dobie awaitin’ BARBIE NATION. From what I’ d heard it was ‘posed ta be pretty good and the posters showed Barbie in leather getting’ whipped! Now we don’t get much of that back home, so I figured that sadomasochistic Barbies could not be missed!
Well, this documentary followed those obsessed with the perfect female incarnation of plastic, Mattel’s Barbie doll. Beginin’ with an auction where folks was biddin’ up to two thousand bucks fer a damn doll! Blew my mind, hell for that kinda cash, I could get an electric plow ta replace my old horse and plow! Yeah, I know, I know, you is askin’ yerselves why I would even be here. But ask yerself a few questions, ever seen Barbie with a vibrator? Nope. Ever seen Barbie with a strap-on dick? Didn’t think so. How about a gold Barbie nailed to a crucifix? Nah. Or ‘CrackWhore’ Barbie which comes complete with a condom and a syringe! ‘Course not! For these gems alone it was worth my trip. Purty inter’stin’ stuff on the conception and creation of Mattel toy corp as well as the problems they faced along the way tryin’ to get the doll made… Fun stuff, I laughed a lot, marveled even more at the obsessed freaks that are BARBIE NATION…
