ATLANTIS: THE LOST EMPIRE trailers - 2 types - here

Hey folks, Harry here... I guess I missed this when I was in New Zealand, but while I was out surfing around online today I found a couple of different ATLANTIS: THE LOST EMPIRE trailers up. The first one is an 18.9 meg monster of a trailer that I couldn't find up on any of the best trailer websites and the second one (11.6 meg one) is the one you can find at JoBlo.Com and Movie-List.Com. Having found this different teaser (and it is different, but close to the same) I took this as an excuse to link to both and to discuss my opinions of this ATLANTIS flick coming.

First, I'm very hopeful... We have had some very very early preliminary test screening looks at ATLANTIS which were both positive and negative... but this has had an overall positive flavor coming from it. Now I read a draft of the script from long ago, and there... the film held the promise of being something akin to nothing we've seen from Big Budget American Feature Animation. It was a straight up Victorian Science-Fiction Action-Adventure film. There were chain-smoking characters and even a drunken character (not played for laughs). People died... all the time... and there was a sparse amount of humor, relying more upon storytelling and action and character work to propel the story.

Again, these trailers hold to that promise... looking to give us exactly what some of us want desperately from American Animation.... SOMETHING DIFFERENT. Now the only question left is has Disney's corporate policy of making their animation all things to everyone created an action-adventure-period-science-fiction film with bland character-less characters existing in the modern politically correct world... OR are these characters still going to be the crude unfinished unsavory seamen from the period they are depicted to be from? Has Disney followed through, or have they gotten cold feet? Personally, I root for them to succeed. I don't want to sit in a theater this summer and come out praying that perhaps LILO & STITCH or TREASURE PLANET will finally turn things around... I want it to be THIS ONE... Take a look... what have you got to say about it all...

Here is one version that has none of the Viking imagery but more of the Jules Verne-y stuff!!! 18.9 megs

And here is the second one, with the flashbacks to Viking times, and more of the Atlantis gal!!! 11.6 megs
