Hey folks, Harry here... A while back we reported upon Eli Roth making a film for Amblin based on a 1973 novel known as THE HOUSE WITH A CLOCK IN ITS WALLS... a book that is quite beloved due to John Bellairs' creepy awesome tale about a boy in the midst of a magical tale wherein a the titular clock could bring about DOOMSDAY. The most curious aspect to me with this film - is how Eli Roth might echo the Edward Gorey illustrations for the book - or - not at all. If say, Guillermo Del Toro were doing this, or Tim Burton, you could imagine the production design going quite a bit in the Gorey direction. However, Eli has never really delved into heavy art direction... of course... this is also an AMBLIN production - so this could be a whole new game for Eli.
Whatever he's up to - he got Cate Blanchett to become all witchy for this film.
I'm not sure she's that kinda witch - as she's the boy's uncle's neighbor and bosom friend. And of course, the Uncle is JACK BLACK. Just Jack Black and Cate Blanchett being cast in this has a very... curious clashing tone of performers. Seems... interesting, ya think?
Keep it cool,
Harry
