You've seen Jekyll now here's a glimpse of Hyde!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I'm so incredibly curious about this Mummy relaunch. On the one hand, I don't know if going the mega giant action blockbuster route is my favorite approach to doing a Universal Monster Movie Cinematic Universe relaunch. If they took these monsters as seriously as they did (initially) back in the day I think they could have something different and more suited to the material than this approach.

On the other hand, never discount Tom Cruise, especially when he's working off of a script that Chris McQuarrie helped bring to life. Jon Spaihts is a bit more of a question mark, but my instinct is he's a good writer that's had a couple iffy movies made from his work.

I'm pulling for this one to work if only because I like the idea of the Universal Monsters having another day in the sun, but there is something holding me back from being too excited for this one. It might just be the lingering effects of Van Helsing, but I can't deny it's there.

Universal has been teasing the new Mummy movie every week and will continue to do so until the release. This week they focus on Russell Crowe's Jekyll, the unifying force in this cinematic universe. He's the guy gathering together the Monster Avengers, essentially.

This clip also gives us our first look at Mr. Hyde, which at first blush appears to just be Russell Crowe with weird eyes and made slightly bigger in the computer. Perhaps this is just the first stage of his transformation, but I'd love it if they took a page from Frederic March's playbook with his design... Maybe not so much the missing link appearance, but a more animalistic look.

Here's the featurette:

What do you guys think?
