Mother, Where's Jeff Goldblum? "He's under a pile of laundry on the couch!" that would be so friggin handy! That said, I think naming AI's after family is all the creepy - and I've always felt that way, from the moment Tom Skerritt interacted with MOTHER in the first ALIEN. I mean, naming an AI as FATHER or MOTHER - well it instantly is a strained relationship. How many comforting lies did our parents tell us growing up? How often did you learn your parents were wrong? I liked Star Trek just calling it like it was, "COMPUTER!" Everytime I use my iPhone's pseudo AI, I keep thinking about Tom Cruise's daughter tangentially - and I wonder how she's doing being a product of a broken home, but somehow I think she's fine. But dammit APPLE, why the constant reminder. How about we just call the AI's EINSTEIN. That way it feels absolutely correct. "Einstein, When will the Mosquitos be released that give us super powers?" "Tomorrow" - See, no fear. Giggle. That said, asking the AI where the ALIEN is and it telling you... seems creepy as fuck. Just watch:
