Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I wasn't a huge fan of what I saw of The Dark Tower at CinemaCon, but you gotta believe me when I say that I hope my instinct on this one is wrong. I've been a Tower junkie since I hit puberty and nothing would make me happier to see this done justice on the big screen.
Even now, knowing they're cherry picking the best of the best stuff to tease out before the full trailer drops, I find a little hope burning in my chest. There's something so gleefully meta (fitting) about Matthew McConaughey and Idris Elba playing their characters on social media that I can't help but smile.
Today's trailer teases dropped on Twitter as McConaughey taunted Elba on social media and the gunslinger responded with part of his mantra. Yeah, it's geeky. Yeah, it worked on me and I've already been a bit disappointed with what I've seen of the movie!

That shot of the door standing alone on a razed hillside is the best image I've seen from the movie. I wish more of the final footage looked like it.
But we're a few months from the theatrical version hitting theaters. Perhaps I'll be swayed. I know that someone in Sony's marketing department has an idea of what they're doing because today's trailer teases work and I frickin' hate the trend of teasing sections of a trailer.
