Hey folks, Harry here... Tim Burton's DUMBO with a script by Ehren Krueger - well, I have to say, this is an odd one. Thus far, we've had no animal voice casting - and I'm not sure how this film will play out. Ehren Krueger's adaptive scripts have been less about adhering to source material - and tend to instead focus on reinvention.
Today, Variety, is telling us that Michael Keaton is in negotiations to play the villianous Circus owner that buys out Danny Devito's smaller circus to exploit Dumbo and his mother. Eva Green is playing a French trapeze artist, Colin Farrell is also circling playing a single fater with a pair of kids - and it's anybody's guess how that plays out.
Whatever this will be, Tim Burton is obviously making it his own. Like he did with ALICE IN WONDERLAND and his WONKA and APES redos. I dare say, DUMBO is even more precious to those that love that Disney original. My mother could not get enough DUMBO when my Baby Sis was little. I just have to say, with all the casting going to the human characters thus far, it makes me wonder if the animals will talk and plot. Surely they will. But ya know, I think I'll have seen, just about everything, when I see a CGI ELEPHANT FLY! HO HOOOOO!
Keep it cool,
Harry
