Ozymandias just sent Father Geek the following link to an Arnold interview...
This one just popped up on the web here over here today - Paul Byrne is one of the most prominent TV/Print movie journalists in Ireland and he apparently caught up with Arnie S. at the London "6th Day" presser a couple of weeks ago. He asked him about his much touted appearance in Rob Bowman's Reign Of Fire - due to shott here in the new year with Christian Bale and Matthew McConaghey:
PAUL BYRNE: The Irish media have been getting very excited lately about your proposed arrival into Ireland next year to shoot Reign Of Fire, but when I rang the film's publicity office, they deny you were ever connected to the film.
ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER: "Oh yeah, we've been involved with that for quite some time. Nothing is yet set, as far as I remember, as to where it's going to be shot. It could easily be in Ireland, because the story takes place there. It would be a perfect location to shoot the film; it needs that kind of a look."

Hey, everyone. "Moriarty" here.
Great interview, Paul, and thanks for the heads-up, Ozymandias. I just wanted to clarify this whole thing a bit. I had a talk with someone very close to the top of the food chain on REIGN OF FIRE just the other night, and Arnold is 100% NOT GOING TO BE IN THIS FILM!! I don't know how the rumor got to be quite so prevelant in the Irish press, but it's false. He did indeed talk with them about it at one point, but as I mentioned in my ABOUT SCHMIDT piece the other day, Arnold is all about the coin at this point. He's not the kind of guy who takes a pay cut to play an interesting role, and he really doesn't care about shaking his image up at all. Playing a bad guy, a supporting role like this, might be a great choice, but it won't net him $25 million and 10% of the first-dollar gross. As a result, he won't do it. End of story. I notice that Arnold doesn't help matters with the way he talks to the press. It's like sometimes he's not kept fully abreast of what he's passed on and what's still in play. Trust me, though, folks... REIGN OF FIRE will not feature the Austrian Oak in any capacity.
