Father Geek here with another Far East report from Ye Meng... Check it out...
Jean Réno just finished his 24-hour trip to Taiwan for promoting his new movie Les Rivières Pourpres (Crimson Rivers). Here is a summary of his news conference:
He said both Luc Besson and Mathieu Kassovitz (director of Crimson Rivers) were very talented. Luc Besson was good at using camera tricks and Mathieu Kassovitz was specifically interested in social issues. Considering himself as an action actor, Jean Réno would like to try some drama. He thought there was no big difference between European film industry and the American counterpart. European one was more private and artistic and the American one is more comprehensive and expensive. In the States, big stars had their trailers, called "golden cages" by him, but him preferred not to stay in his cage and to make more friends. If Michelle Yeoh wanted to do THE TOUCH with him, she should contact him personally not through agents. He even said, "Where are you? Michelle!" in English. Jean Réno does not specifically like any of his films, but ROSEANNA'S GRAVE was most memorable, because during the shooting he lost his father.
