Are we clear enough on that? Rumor. Not confirmed. However, it came from a pretty damn trustworthy source. If it's true, then I met the director of Fox's megabudget FANTASTIC FOUR film at this year's Comicon in San Diego. He sat in front of me during the panel on the Internet, and we chatted about the film he released in August. Yes, it was there in that room, with various webmasters and their flunkies all a-yellin' at each other down front, that Peyton Reed promised me a bikini car wash in BRING IT ON.

Yes, you heard right. Peyton Reed. BRING IT ON. He's now directing FANTASTIC FOUR. Or he will be when they nail the script, anyway. I'm going to be tracking down some confirmations on all of this in the next few days. Until then, put this one in the "probable but not guaranteed" file.

And before anyone gets all pissy about the choice, think about where I met him. The San Diego Comicon. No one had a gun to his head that I saw. He seemed like just another cool, friendly comic geek when we spoke. Isn't this the exact kind of person we always say we want directing these films? Someone who actually is a fan?

I'm certainly keeping an open mind. Anything's a step up from Raja Gosnell, so I say let the celebrations commence!!
