Hey folks, Harry here... HEADSHOT was the single most visceral film I watched in a theater in 2016. Iko Uwais of MERANTAU, THE RAID & THE RAID II... he's the energizer bunny of the martial arts world. In HEADSHOT, it's like someone saw REGARDING HENRY and said... "This shit is boring as all fuck!" Then they said, "You know what would rock? What if the most badass asskicker on the fucking planet had a head injury, got all Regarding Henry, but people wanted him dead and he could remember how fuck up asses till they bled out in the streets! Now, I'd Pay To See That!" - and then they made the movie. I saw this at Fantastic Fest last year, it had premiered a few days prior at Toronto's Midnight Madness - where it also left audience members bruised and winded from the assault upon the senses.
I love martial arts movies. Always have. It's superhero movies with usually less CG. HEADSHOT is not the masterpiece that was THE RAID 2, but it's 13 heaping helpings of head pounding awesome. If you love this genre, you should have a very very good time. That it tries to hybrid in, JJ Abrams' REGARDING HENRY plot... well it amused the hell out of me. BUT... just imagine all the boring shit in that movie, but knowing the payoff is like non-stop fuck you up seven ways from Sunday wow. That moment where the blood goes down Iko's face that you'll see in this trailer... Think of that as... the moment where Iko has officially been active. It's crazy fun.
The film will be in limited theatrical release, plus VOD on March 3rd. It'll leave a mark!
