This Week's SATURDAY SHORTS: Pizza Delivery Terror, Creepiness At The Office, and Wilderness Action!

Hello ladies and gentlemen, your pal Muldoon here with this week's fun lineup of stellar shorts that you've likely not seen. We've got some gems this week with equal parts terror and drama. Hopefully your first week of 2017 has been a solid one, and you're able to kick your feet up with the films below. I've been a traveling man, flying back to Austin from Seattle, getting sick one day, and now heading off to Vegas for a few days, so if there happens to be a tpyo in this week's article, apologies in advance. Let's kick this party off and get down on some short film fun, eh?

Go grab yourself some popcorn, lock your kids in a closet, kill the lights, relax and check out this little weekly film fest we've got ourselves here:

PIZZA DELIVERY - THE MIDNIGHT SERVICE

TRT: 3:08

Our first short of the day is more of a campfire tale than a mini film, though make no mistake - it's incredibly well-done. Filmmakers Brett Potter and Dean C. Marcial have taken a popular internet story and have given it some life. "THE MIDNIGHT SERVICE: PIZZA DELIVERY reimagines one of the most popular creepypastas as a true-crime documentary. One cheese, two pepperoni, and a Hawaiian-- an order one unlucky pizza boy will never forget." If you like what you see, then check out their Youtube Page or website for more!

*Removed, for a well-deserved festival run!*

FOREVER'S GONNA START TONIGHT

TRT: 15:34

Next up is an absolutely incredible film from Eliza Hittman. "Sonya, a 17-year-old Russian immigrant, lives in a claustrophobic Brooklyn apartment with her dad and his ever-growing menagerie of cats. When the Landlady threatens to kick them out, Sonya is forced to make an unimaginable decision to protect her aging father and herself." The film feels real, as in real people talking vs. actors with memorized lines against some painted flats. Damn fine job here. Be sure to check out Eliza's Vimeo Page for more from her!

EPOCH

TRT: 7:33

Luke Morton has our next film, an end times kind of flick that was created for the Adam Young Scores Short Film Contest. Luke wrote, shot, and edited this cold and impressive film that hints at a much bigger story. EPOCH tosses you in the shoes of a guy living in a dark, scary time with gorgeous shots left and right. I honestly am excited to see what Luke does next. Follow Luke on Twitter if you're curious to see more (@lukemrtn)!

POINTS OF ORIGIN

TRT: 19:04

Our next film comes to us not by the filmmaker, but by our own Talkbacker cjohnston who sent it my way. Thanks, Chris! From Anya Leta, POINTS OF ORIGIN follows a couple as they explore the moral complications of international surrogacy. It's a fascinating look into a world I personally know very little about. It's a solid film filled with real emotions and real tough situations. I'm in shock of how much I was into Leta's film. Check out the film's website and Facebook page for more info on how the film was created and where it's going next!

KNACK!

TRT: 7:06

To wrap us out, we've got a scary film from Wilhelm Forsnäsgård. "A late night at the office turns in to a nightmare when a copywriter realizes he might not be alone." While the basic premise is common, instead of a babysitter in a freaky house it's a man in an office building, Wilhelm's version still feels fresh, full of surprises that aren't seen a mile away. Be sure to check out more Wilhelm on his Vimeo Page!

Boom! There we are, ladies and gents. I'm on my way to Vegas for the next few days, and fingers crossed by the next time I see you I'll have another handful of solid shorts to share. Remember, if you've got an idea for a short - grab some freinds and make it! There's nothing stopping anyone from creating something that means something to them. The above films are just a tiny fraction of films created every day by folks who feel the desire to tell a story. At any rate, I'll see you all next week. (Hopefully I come back a winner.)

If you have a short and think it belongs here or are on the fence about whether to send it in, please do send it in - I'd love to see what you've put together. I've already seen hundreds of fresh new filmmakers' shorts and like any good addict, I need more!

Shoot me an email at "Mike@aintitcool.com"

In the subject line include:

“SHORTS” + “Your film’s name” + “The film’s genre”

Then, in the body of the email, please include a synopsis of the film and any contact information you might think I need or would want published. The more info you send my way, the more info there is to put with your short.

Please don’t feel the need to submit multiple times.

Remember, the filmmakers might still be in the audience, so feel free to share your thoughts in Talkbacks below. (JUST DON'T BE AN ASSHOLE). I picked them, so you know I think highly of all of these, but how about you fine folks? How'd you like 'em?

BY THE WAY: If you've had a short featured here, that means that I personally am a fan of your work, so feel free to shoot me any kind of news on new projects/films/whatever. I can't say I'll be able to help or in what capacity, but I'm interested in your work and am always down to see more! (Keep making cool stuff, everyone!)
