“New crews” are what the promo for “Star Trek: Discovery” promised, and it looks now like the new streaming series from CBS All Access will deliver those multiple crews.
We learned late last month that Michelle Yeoh’s character would captain the USS Shenzhou and that Anthony Rapp would star as the USS Discovery’s gay science officer.
Monday brought word that the new series would sport a Klingon ship and a trio of Klingon characters.

Studio City, CA -- STAR TREK: DISCOVERY announces additional cast members joining the series as Klingons: Chris Obi, Shazad Latif and Mary Chieffo.Chris Obi will star as “T'Kuvma,” the Klingon leader seeking to unite the Klingon houses.
Shazad Latif will star as “Kol,” the Commanding Officer of the Klingons and protégé of T’Kuvma.
Mary Chieffo will star as “L'Rell,” the Battle Deck Commander of the Klingon ship.
Obi, Latif and Chieffo join previously announced cast members Michelle Yeoh, Doug Jones and Anthony Rapp.
Set 10 years before Kirk and Spock’s original five-year NBC mission, “Star Trek Discovery” launches on CBS and CBSAA in May.
