Universal's 3rd THE MUMMY, the one with Tom Cruise, has a trailer - looky looky looky!!!

Hey folks, Harry here...  It's crazy to me that UNIVERSAL is revamping the dusty bandages of THE MUMMY for another go around.   The Stephen Sommers directed 1999 THE MUMMY was my first overseas set visit, very nearly 2 decades ago.   I remember it clearly because my hotel room at Claridges had the first butt water fountain I'd ever come across.  Civilization is so bizarre.  That was also the first time I met Jim Jacks, who would change just about everything I think about the development process of film.  All of that was upon that 1999 THE MUMMY.  I actually kinda hated that first MUMMY movie as it didn't have the tone I would've liked for the film.  I wanted something more...  for keeps, something genuinely terrifying without the release valve of chuckles.  Well, now we have the trailer for the new THE MUMMY starring Tom Cruise as the hero, Sofia Boutella as THE MUMMY and Russell Crowe as Dr. Henry Jekyll... hmmmm...  And all of this is being directed by Alex Kurtzman, who is known for his screenwriting history with Bob Orci.   Now the trailer for this feels like another Tom Cruise Airplane stunt appeal to audiences, but I dig the tone they're giving us.   I've no idea about Crowe's Dr. Jekyll...  in a Mummy movie, but then this is the beginning of Universal's big MonsterVerse they've been hyping for a bit now.  What do you good folks think?

Alrighty film fangs, this one hits June 9th, 2017!

Keep it cool,

Harry
