Happy Burfday To Me! Happy Burfday To Me! Happy Burfday Hawe! Happy Burfday to me!

Hey folks, Harry here. It is my Burfday now. December 11th.... I'm 29 and am still hopelessly immature. I rule. hehehe... Spent the weekend with a room of friends from around the U.S. and the globe.... watching 24 hours of movies... old, new and obscure. The night had shared pain.... shared joy.... shared secrets and shared jokes.

BUTT-NUMB-A-THON 2: THE OTHER CHEEK was a blast for me... very different from last year for me. Instead of staying in one seat, I hopped all over the place.... But watched them all..... It also seemed to go faster for me this year. I also enjoyed the fun of giving stuff out to folks... like the two folks that had the Willy Wonka GOLDEN TICKETS! One won a life mask of Christopher Lee.... and completely by coincidence.... the other won a 24 karat gold 007 bullet from THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN.... and at the time... it didn't even dawn on me about the connection... but when I think about it.... after having slept a bit.... I'm realy happy it worked out this way! The folks winning the DUNGEONS & DRAGONS tubes of Blue Lipstick... well they rule the earth.... Everyone left with autographed SNATCH posters and by the time it was all done... I had met many many more people and tried to have fun doing it.

Watching folks discover Al Jolson and Edward G Robinson in WONDER BAR and SEA WOLF was a joy. Having discovered DESTINATION MARS as a submitted video... rediscovering that 50's unscreened film, and giving it its long overdue premiere was just a moment of satisfaction. The idea that everyone who made it... none saw it. The work of faith that the restorationists (who attended the entire festival) invested.... and that the folks at Dark Horse recognized that... well, that's the way it is done. I know, I was nearly moved to tears while introducing the film... reflecting upon how for me personally... how thrilling it was to show it. And then to watch the crowd be blown away by the 47 year old film... as it finally got a screened, instead of languishing in the Federal Building in Los Angeles. AMAZING! I did a Q&A with them after the film and found that it was really and truly a transforming experience. Although, mysteriously... the entire audience came down with some inexplicable cough when ever I begin mentioning the restoration work.... I can only attribute this to the high pollen count that Austin has had due to the amazing weather we've been having. Allergies being what they are ya know!

Watching the audience become UNGLUED with SNATCH was wonderful. The film played EXTREMELY well.... and when Addy.. the actor that plays Tyrone the Get-Away Driver in SNATCH appeared as if out of nowhere... the Audience freaked. While not the STAR STAR that Brad Pitt maybe.... fact is, Addy was one heckuva charming fella up there.... and when folks started running and grabbing the mini posters... he through his Harryian Girth upon them whilst screaming out.... "GET THE FUCK AWAY... HOLD ON.... LEAVE THEM ALONE.... BACK THE FUCK OFF" and I was dying laughing... it was a great moment. But nowhere near as great as when the audience beheld Smurfette with a strap-on fucking Moriarty in the posterior... hahahahah.... Then watching Moriarty watching the Harry conceived, Cartuna's brilliantly executed cartoon MY BLUE McWEENIE..... dear lord... He nearly fell to his knees.... doubled over. Best sucker punch delivered that I have ever seen.

THE GIFT went over very well overall, but not as much so as SNATCH. Generally folks came away liking it an awful lot... talking about J.K. Simmons, Giovanni Ribisi and Keanu Reeves as all being excellent. THEN there was the moment where Quint realized he was sitting to Ed Gein/Charlie Manson/Duan Barry... Steven Railsback... while watching ED GEIN.... the look on his face was total shock. He then had to watch Railsback deliver a stunning performance as Ed Gein. As the film ended and I called him up for a Q&A, the audience couldn't believe it. After the film... and after being disturbed... they were a bit unsure as to how to act... My favorite question was about whether or not Railsback ever had trouble shaking out of the characters of folks like Ed Gein and Charles Manson. And then some of the questions that popped out of the mouths of sleep deprived movie assaulted folks... well, it was grande.

I'm going to be writing up full length reviews of DESTINATION MARS, THE GIFT, SNATCH and ED GEIN... on my flight to New Zealand tomorrow. I figure that that is best way to do it.

One great moment was provided by Quint, who had Bruce Campbell record a BUTT-NUMB-A-THON ass massage message and also insisted that everyone in the Alamo massage my ass. Though, Auntie Meat was a little too grabby with my ass I think.

Everyone that came.... best of luck getting tickets next year! To those that couldn't make it this year, hope to see you next year. I imagine that we'll be getting quite a few reports from folks that attended.

Harry out
