Hey folks, Harry here with some info about the Green Goblin Glider as described (allegedly) in the current 'sides' for SPIDER-MAN. I can't tell ya too much about this... and to be truthful, I can't remember the origin for the dang thing the first time around.... but what I can comment on... is having finished watching THE GIFT at BUTT-NUMB-A-THON 2: The Other Cheek, this year... I can say this: "J. K. Simmons will absolutely RULE as J. Jonah Jameson!!!!" In THE GIFT, you can see Simmons as a small town sheriff... he has a moustache... chews on a cigar.... doesn't listen well to others... is always shooting off his mouth and denying the obvious. THE CHARACTER IS GREAT and I can now TOTALLY see him as the JJJ. R Lee would still be great, but so will J.K... and frankly... if we ever get to the 'my astronaut son' stories... well the acting necessary Simmons completely and totally possesses. Also, Raimi continues to be a very fine director.... THE GIFT's atmosphere... thrills and chills work greatly..... Now if only he can nail Spidey perfect!
Harry, first off I love your fucking site. I wrote you once with a test screening review that wasn't posted, maybe you'll like this tidbit better. I saw a fax today that includes sides for Spiderman. The draft was dated 11/14/00. The cover sheet was from Evolution Entertainment.
First it describes a sprawiling underground laboratory, OsCorp. Then we cut to one of the labs and see a Dr. Stromm testing a "strange object mounted on a servo-pole, being worked on by technicians. It looks like an aerodynamically perfected boogie board, with upturned fins on each side, footholds carved into the wings, and a center tube that looks like a jet engine."
"Next to the device, a lightweight, super tight-fitting electronic suit is mounted on a mechanical body. As technicians manipulate controls that move the arms and legs of the mechanical body, the suit sends out radio pulses which are picked up by the board."
Afterward it is established that the prototype is stolen, Dr. Stromm is dead, and it seems to be implied that Norman Osborn (also the owner of the company?) is responsible in some way.
Not earth-shattering news, and not to meaningful to me as I know little about Spiderman, but hopefully it serves some use.
