Max Landis to remake An American Werewolf In London. Back off the ledge... breathe... everything will be alright...

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I was just sitting here minding my own business, trying to keep my mind off of the impending election and then I get T-boned by this bit of news, courtesy of those cruel bastards at Deadline.

It's not that sweet to hear that An American Werewolf in London is going to be remade and it's doubly sad to hear that Max Landis will be the one doing it. I have nothing personal against Max Landis. The dude's never done or said anything bad to me, but boy do I think his personality doesn't mesh with this material, despite his familial ties to it.

Deadline says Max Landis will write and direct and that John Landis will exec produce alongside The Walking Dead's David Albert and Robert Kirkman.

I'm not really a purist when it comes to remakes, but I'm struggling to see where you go with this one that can be done better than what was before. I suppose you could gender flip the leads, but then you start cutting closer to American Werewolf in Paris area.

John Landis found that sweet spot between broad comedy and pure horror that a thousand filmmakers failed miserably at trying to copy afterwards. John's brand of comedy was different from his son's, too. I just don't see this translating, but maybe young Max will prove me wrong. I sure hope he can because no matter what I'll be watching this thing and I'd rather be pleasantly surprised than trying to contain a hulk out in that theater...

What do you folks think?
