The Behind the Scenes Pic of the Day: Kurt Russell on the set of John Carpenter's ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. John Carpenter bridges us from our run of Halloween horror flick pics to a less gory November. That's the great thing about his career. He's not just a horror guy. He's also a sci-fi guy, an action guy, a comedy guy, a whateverthefuck beautiful combination of genres Big Trouble In Little China is guy and so much more. Today we're going to highlight the movie that really made sure he wasn't typecast as a slasher director for the rest of his career after the huge success of Halloween. Today we look at Escape From New York.

Carpenter had worked with Kurt Russell before, with the TV movie ELVIS, but this is where their storytelling partnership really gelled. This is where Russell proved he could be an intimidating anti-hero action star and not just a Disney kid making the transition into an adult career.

In short, this is kind of a miracle of a movie both as a story itself and how it played into the careers of its key players.

Today's image, most likely shot by on-set photographer Kim Gottlieb-Walker, is a beautifully framed one of Kurt Russell (minus his eyepatch) waiting as the camera lens is being cleaned between takes.

Fuck it, let's go for a triple shot of Carpenter, why don't we? Tomorrow's pic will shake the pillars of heaven. See ya' then!
