Hey folks, Harry here... Forrest Whittaker being in ROGUE ONE and now BLACK PANTHER just fills me to the brim with absolute delight. Watching Jim Jarmusch's GHOST DOG: WAY OF THE SAMURAI was such a pure joy. It gave me a different look at Whittaker, who had been doing great character work throughout the latter half of the eighties - I mean- everyone of my generation first saw him as Charles Jefferson, who destroys football players for lunch in FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMONT HIGH, but if you make a habit of just watching everything Forrest has done... you're in for a helluva treat. Key things not to miss... A RAGE IN HARLEM... THE CRYING GAME... BODY SNATCHERS (underrated version, but I love)... PLATOON.... GOOD MORNING VIETNAM... ERNEST & CELESTINE... that's a great start... but seriously, dig into his filmmography and see the stuff you don't recognize, whatever he's in... he's outstanding. Seeing him in ROGUE ONE is gonna rule, but when Variety broke this news of Forrest being in BLACK PANTHER and well... some additional casting, here's what Justin Kroll of Variety had to say:
"Whitaker will play the role of Zuri, an elder stateman in Wakanda. Florence Kasumba will reprise her “Captain America: Civil War” role as Ayo, a member of the Dora Milaje. Daniel Kaluuya will play T’Challa confidant W’Kabi
