Hey folks, Harry here... the following member of academia has seen a very early test screening for SHREK... the Dreamworks PDI CG Animated film starring Cameron Diaz, Eddie Murphy, Mike Myers and John Lithgow. It's very brief and very positive, but I really have no doubts about the genuine nature of the author's exuberance... SHREK has very strong buzz coming from within the animation community of folks I talk with. I loved ANTZ and the color work here and character designs are a vast improvement... if their script is as much fun... I can't wait. Here ya go with Yoko...
hey harry:
i saw the coolest movie tonight. i saw shrek with mike myers and eddie murphy. their voices anyway. i've seen a couple of things on your site, like the trailer and stuff. you know the basic story - evil prince banishes fairy tale icons, ogre agrees to find the evil prince a wife in return for getting the fairies out of his swamp. he slays the dragon with his donkey sidekick saves the princess, fall in love (OF COURSE) and so on... not your typical fairy tale: beautiful princes, ugly ogre and his talking ass!
needless to say, i thought it rocked. very funny, and not at all silly. i think will be a huge hit. it's really funny. there were so many great lines that my friends and i were quoting afterward.
the animation was better than anything i've ever seen, as far as looking realistic. i really think every one of these computer animated movies has just gotten better than the last. i loved toy story and thought antz and bugs life were ever better. and toy story 2 was the greatest but this takes it up one more notch. and when i saw it tonight it wasn't even entirely finished. i'll definately see it again when it comes out.
truth be told, you are really going to love this movie! if i you put this up on your site please sign me: yoko ono
