Remember that scouted Building for SPIDER-MAN... here it is!

Hey folks, Harry here... and 3 brave New Yorkers stepped out of the crowd... put on the spandex... and did some quick spy snapping about town. Gordon Gekko apparently has his own spy satellite, tres cool eh? And the Reluctant Hero and ANON provided the other two photos. Man... don't ya just love teamwork? This building is the one that Raimi was scouting yesterday taking pictures of. ENJOY!

Not exactly news worth posting, but I figure you'd want to know.

I live three blocks from the scouting location. There's nothing special about the building in question. Raimi probably just finds it to be a convenient locale. I can't send photos, but I can tell you what its like down here. Downtown is a perfect location - lots of tall buildings (40+ floors) and narrow streets. People refer to it as the "canyons" for a reason. If shot correctly, it looks exactly like what most people imagine the generic parts of NY to be like. Since there is only a small number of residential buildings, it is totally quiet on the weekends with nothing more than a few random tourist groups, making it perfect for filming. In fact, I rarely go a week without seeing a photo, commercial or film shoot. Some film examples for you:

- In "Devil's Advocate," Al Pacino and Keanu talk outside of his office at the top of the building. The backdrop for that conversation is downtown, and you get some great views of it.

- All the scenes of the bank robbery in "Die Hard with a Vengeance" were filmed downtown.

I was hoping they'd do some filming down here and it looks like I'm going to get my wish. I should note that even though they're filming way downtown, I would imagine that it will just be standing in for midtown locations. Midtown is really the core of the city (Empire State Building, Times Square, Chrysler Building, etc.). Just about every big company that's not a bank is in midtown. That is where I would put the Daily Bugle.

PS - Here's a great satellite photo. It will give you somewhat of a sense of what I'm talking about. The area that guy was talking about is the lower portion of the photograph. This photograph is only of the southern tip of Manhattan. That's the World Trade Center casting those big shadows on the left.
