Hey there all my goonie friends in internetland, MOUTH is popping in here with a little juicy tidbit on a film that I reviewed a few months back.
This is a chance for all of you out there to discover if ol' Mouth has what it takes AND cast your ballot for all independent film out there! Am I nuts? Has Mouth lost it? No way, just...well let me tell you the good news. It comes in several parts, so read on!
I have been in touch with Ian and Jules of the Seventh Twelfth collective after I reviewed their film "The Killing Zone." Remember the stylized British hitman film that I thought was so cool I called for these guys to do a Bond flick? Ok, if you don't, here's the original review: AT THIS LOCATION
Anyway, I have two incredible pieces of rich stuff that were passed over the big drink recently. The first bit of news is as follows:
"Hey everybody,
Our little feature The Killing Zone was screened at the LA International Independent Film Festival and has just won the LA Grand Jury Prize Best Feature award. This award we were told is the top award at the festival. The grand jury and the viewing public voted for it!!!
Blimey!!
And that is just the beginning, as great as it is."
Evidently, The Killing Zone has peen picked up for video distribution by Hollywood Video!
I just called the local Hollywood video here in the Goondocks, and was told there were 8 or 9 available on the new Release wall! I know this film has been a labor of love from the Seventh Twelfth collective from the ground up. Just watching it you can tell these guys aren't hacks, or wannabes...they are true filmmakers, willing to risk it all to make something all can enjoy.
So here it is kiddies, your chance to cast your vote for independent film. GO RENT THE KILLING ZONE! Make a difference! We all bitch about how all studios and video rental chains pay attention to is money. This is true, we can't change that. So it's not very often we get an opportunity like this, to prove to a huge company that independent film CAN make money. It IS worth funding filmmakers directly, or picking up an indie for distribution.
