This Week's SATURDAY SHORTS: Murderous Lovers, Alien Invasions, Great Docs, and A Half-Naked Lady!

Hello ladies and gentlemen, your pal Muldoon here with this week's special selection of short films from all over, films from fresh faces with raw talent galore.  This week is a solid blend of incredibly well made documentaries, some freaky horror flicks, and more. Each week I screen a handful of films that I like with the hopes that they inspire or take you to another world/time/dimension. I think this week does exactly that, as it throws you into the real worlds of real people with real stories, as well as tosses you into some unreal people in some truly unreal scenarios. If you've checked out a SATURDAY SHORTS in the past or are here for the first time, remember the singular point is just have fun and watch cool movies together (strangers on the internet). If you see a flick today that stands out or one that you utterly have beef with, share your thoughts in the Talkbacks with some criticism, like actual criticism (not your standard basement dwelling self appointed hate spreading jerk with an opinion that no one appreciates or even wants to be around.) Full screen each film, lean back, and just let these talented filmmakers act as your captains on a journey through time and space. Let's jump right on in!

Go grab yourself some popcorn, lock your kids in a closet, kill the lights, relax and check out this little weekly film fest we've got ourselves here!

LONG-TERM PARKING

TRT: 7:49

Our first film of the day is a documentary from Lance Oppenheim that explores something I can say I've truly never even thought of. Lance is no stranger to the SATURDAY SHORTS world as you might remember his film THE OFF / SEASON from early 2015. The film "follows a community of airline employees who live in an airport parking lot." I had no clue this type of community existed and think it's a rather special look into the lives of others. For more info on the film, check out Lance's article over on The New York Times or swing by his website!

HOUSE OF STRAW

TRT: 16:00

Kyle Bogart has our next film with a feature version in the works! "It’s six o’clock and Emma has a lot to do before sunset. But a domestic dispute threatens to throw a wrench in the gears. As disagreements turn into accusations, she has precious little time to lock her husband away before their monstrous secret begins to break free." For more info on the short, check out its Facebook Page or his Vimeo Page!

YOU WON'T REGRET THAT TATTOO

TRT: 12:47

Angie Bird has our next film, a bit of perspective with folks looking back at a few decisions they've made in life. It offers a bit of 20/20 hindsight with revelations that you might not initially expect. "'YOU WON'T REGRET THAT TATTOO is a short documentary that explores the meanings and memories behind the tattoos of an older generation, and challenges the belief that ink is something we will come to regret." For a few more videos from Bird, think about checking out her Vimeo Page!

INVASION DAY

TRT: 3:02

Our next little bit of fun comes via the CGBros. INVASION DAY is the culmination of many artists, folks like Vincent De Bellis, Milos Eratostene, Terence Guilpin, Léo Lefebrve, Raphael Leylavergne, Arthur Loiseau, Mohamed Oumoumad, and Dimitri Trouve. "A huge spaceship starts troubling the city of Paris, sucking up everything on its way…" There's a Facebook Page for the short, and if you're into this short - there are loads more with the CGBros Youtube Channel!

FOREVER

TRT: 13:49

Blair Franklin has our last film of the day, a little bit of terror to send you off on the rest of your weekend! "Amy had a stalker that haunted her college years until she moved and changed her name senior year. Never knowing who he was or what happened to him, Amy lives her life now always looking over her shoulder. She has not had any contact from him for over three years...until today." If you enjoy the film, then check out Franklin's Mookpark Entertainment webpage or Facebook Page!

BOOM! There we have it, ladies and gents - a handful of films that hopefully gave you a little bit of an escape. Clearly I thought they're all interesting in their different ways. I hope to see you all a week from now with another selection of cool films. In the mean time, check out a link below to keep this Shorts Party going!

If you have a short and think it belongs here or are on the fence about whether to send it in, please do send it in - I'd love to see what you've put together. I've already seen hundreds of fresh new filmmakers' shorts and like any good addict, I need more!

Shoot me an email at "Mike@aintitcool.com"

In the subject line include:

“SHORTS” + “Your film’s name” + “The film’s genre”

Then, in the body of the email, please include a synopsis of the film and any contact information you might think I need or would want published. The more info you send my way, the more info there is to put with your short.

Please don’t feel the need to submit multiple times.

Remember, the filmmakers might still be in the audience, so feel free to share your thoughts in Talkbacks below. (JUST DON'T BE AN ASSHOLE). I picked them, so you know I think highly of all of these, but how about you fine folks? How'd you like 'em?

BY THE WAY: If you've had a short featured here, that means that I personally am a fan of your work, so feel free to shoot me any kind of news on new projects/films/whatever. I can't say I'll be able to help or in what capacity, but I'm interested in your work and am always down to see more! (Keep making cool stuff, everyone!)
