Hey folks, Harry here - great news! I've had Christophe Gans' LA BELLE ET LA BETE on Blu Ray from France for a while now, but that's because I absolutely love fairy tales, Christophe Gans - and the differences in adaptatation between something like Christophe Gans' translation of the original French Fairy Tale - and Bill Condon's adaptation of the Disney Animated telling. But even though I love my home theater set up, the instant you begin watching this film, you can't wait to see it as soon as possible on a big screen.
Now the great, SHOUT! FACTORY FILMS is doing this limited release, with the film in its original French language. I can tell you, I've seen an English dub and the French with subtitles is TOTALLY the only way to go. The notice I received said that in addition to the below dates & locations, that Christophe Gans' release will be hitting Austin, Tx opening at the Regal Cinemas Arbor 8 on October 7th, 2016.
Hopefully this will get to play more theaters, it's what ART HOUSE and PRESTIGE MOVIE THEATERS used to be about. Also - today is the 25th Anniversary of Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST being released - most likely why I got this release today. Oh those sly smarties at SHOUT! Here's the US Poster for this masterful film.

And - if you don't get to see this in theaters, I'm sure SHOUT! is gonna do a great Home Video release. If you have kids at an age that they can keep up with subtitles, something that helped me read faster as a child, this film will stun them. I showed this to my Nephew who was 15 at the time and as it ended he said, "Uncle Harry, that was the best Fairy Tale movie I've ever seen." Giving him a couple years until Cocteau's BELLE ET LA BETE, that will stun him, especially with that Phillip Glass score. I love you Criterion!
As for the Bill Condon musical BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, we'll have to wait until March 17th, 2017... I so want it now though!
Keep it cool,
Harry
