Hey folks, Harry here... As one of the founders of Online Geekery, it never fails to astonish me just how amazing things drop. What I really want are HOURS of behind the scenes looks. I hope Disney employs a ton of documentarians and does a never-ending series of HOW THEY MADE everything in STAR WARS history. We're losing too many of the greats and we need it all down for history - and for just plain geeking out. Like here in this reel, I love the Lego-esque manner that they drop in parts of that crashed Star Destroyer, until it finally all comes together. I just want to see EVERY SINGLE PART at leasure. Disney could use their STAR WARS franchise to educate generations of future jedis of visual effects. God, I so would love at this point in history to run WONDERFUL WORLD OF DISNEY and make use of just the Disney Empire's assets to give kids the lessons Uncle Walt gave my Parents as they grew up. Check it out and enjoy...
Wasn't that fun? Too short, yeah, it certainly sets the table for a feast. Well, since you're hungry check out this 1977 Documentary on THE MAKING OF STAR WARS I didn't get on VHS for years, I saw this when it was broadcast on Television on September 16th, 1977 on ABC, where I recorded it with hardwired remote control to my top loading VHS VCR. It's more robust than the above, the thing about looks behind the scenes on how movie magic works, it gives the young so much to play with. When I was a kid, we had to shoot on film or VHS/BETA and... well I should've asked for a video camera. Dad had experience with pyro-chemical tricks... Really wish I had. I think that's why I love THE ADAPTATION from those crazy kids in Mississippi so much. They did RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK, but that joy and wonder of kids trying their darnedest as kids to make something of their own, that they already loved so. Sigh. The point being... You can type into YouTumb a lot of Behind THe Scenes and Making Ofs - and you'll be surprised what pops up. Try it with your fave movies, ya never know. But here we go, time traveling all the way back to September 16, 1977... and try imagining never having seen a special feature on a DVD or Blu Ray - because... those didn't exist yet either. Enjoy:
Keep it cool,
Harry
