Tom Joad uncovers the Construction of The Stacks from READY PLAYER ONE!!!

READY PLAYER ONE is among the best novels of the past decade, and I believe this to be true, despite the fact the novel's author Ernie and I are longtime amigos.  I'd be lying if I tried to downplay the immense sense of excitement I felt when hearing the news Steven Spielberg himself was taking the reins of the feature film adaptation.

As production began at Leavesden Studios in Watford, North London, I heard they were building The Stacks, for real.  In the book, Wade (aka: Hero Protagonist) lives in The Stacks, a series of trailer homes literally stacked atop one another over twenty units high.

To create life-size sets hundreds of feet tall would be crazy, but Spielberg does one better.  His construction crew built the first few rows of The Stacks by welding together actual trailer homes and iron scaffolding, while his post production crew will digitize the lower two hundred feet.

Then I discovered this video, featuring what appears to be rogue footage of some daytime set construction, as well as some shots which appear to be during a night shoot, further confirming those construction stories.

and then take a look at the coverage from WATFORD NEWS who originated the story.

Ready Player One hits screens March 30, 2018 --- I'm so stoked for this one!
