Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Netflix having all the money in the world is proving to be an incredibly good thing. They don't give a shit. If they want to work with someone they'll fund it, not concerned about a bottom line. I have no idea how long this can keep going on for, but I know I'm going to enjoy it while I can.
Case in point, Christopher Guest's new mockumentary feature, Mascots. Is there a theatrical market for this kind of film anymore? I don't know. Popstar didn't make a ton of money and that movie had those new up and coming popular Lonely Island folks.
Netflix doesn't care, though. They just know Christopher Guest makes hilarious, brilliant comedies and they let him go wild with this new one and it looks just as good as Best In Show or The Mighty Wind. At least so far.
We'll know how good this thing is come October 13th, but the trailer is pretty damn good. Check it out below:
