Hello ladies and gentlemen, Muldoon here with this week's fun selection of films from around the globe. Hopefully you've had a solid week filled with a lovely balance of work and play. It's Saturday, a day to kick your shoes off, plop down on a couch, and soak up the awesomeness of not hearing your boss in the other room (unless of course you're married! Jokes.) I kid, but what I don't kid about are the films below, half submitted by the filmmakers and half being films I saw and thought "This is too cool not to share." As always, I don't expect everyone out there to completely dig every film I do - but if you see something you like then be sure to speak up about it in the Talkbacks. Take it a step further and check out the filmmakers' websites or watch other films of theirs. SATURDAY SHORTS exists to find and share new voices and visions, and as such I've always made a point to link over to a Director's webpage or Vimeo Page if possible, as well... that's what you do when you find something cool and want to share it with folks who are equally as into film as you. Whatever your week's been like, whatever your weekend plans are, whatever films you might have already seen - I just hope you can kick up your feet, full screen each film, crank the volume up, and dip into the imagination of each filmmaker below. It's the cheapest form of travel (minus reading books), so strap on in and get ready to be taken into some far out scenarios!

SEBASTIAN

Vlad Marsavin has our first film, a tale of a child discoverying their imagination. SEBASTIAN has been screened at numerous film festivals and with good reason - it's just incredible. The animation is unique and fanciful with each frame of the short being something you could decorate your walls with. This film is something special and has made a fan out of me for Vlad Marsavin. WHERE YOU ARE

Writer-Director Graham Parkes has our next film, a solid short that will smack you right on the ass. It's paced well, well shot, well acted, well... well it's just top notch and worth a watch. "When Jen's son disappears in a game of hide-and-go seek, she unwittingly embarks on a journey through time in order to find him. Starring Sarah Burns." Here's a film that's been blowing up in the past few days and you'll see why, if you haven't already cuaght the film. Be sure to look at the film's Facebook Page as well as Parkes's Vimeo Page!

XENOS

Next up is not your typical science fiction film. Dana Johnson brings us a short that will leave you asking yourself a few questions. Shot in just two days in Appleton Minnesota, it's an interesting look - "a mirror held up to us all" type of film. Solid work and part of the POSTCARDS series from Pioneer Public Television. THE LINE

Let's shift gears and shift into some dark, dark territory from Faye Gilbert of Dark Pictures. "A teenage girl and a young boy run for their lives to cross 'The Line', but are they running away from danger or towards it?" The film survives on the incredible performances of its two leads, Laya Lewis and Oscar Sanders, who both are stunningly on point. Check out the Dark Pictures website or their Vimeo Page for more!

SAND BOYS

To wrap us out, we have a film that's utterly absurd. I've seen it twice now and am still scratching my head. It's funny, strange, and showcases some gorgeous shots of a beach. "Amidst the rolling dunes and white coastline of a British beach, two men exist in a way of life unknown to the average soil-dweller. Surviving on sand alone, the Sand Boys lament the wasted years spent in the soil, and recount the benefits and challenges they are faced with during their grain filled days." I'll be honest, I'm kind of dying to see more horror films myself, but feel as Hallloween season is almost upon us - that itch will be scratched in no time.
