Jared Leto to play a "key role" in BLADE RUNNER 2

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Holy moly, do people hate Jared Leto now. I mean, I don't think most people used to love him or anything, but when this news hit my twitter filled up with end-of-the-world level reactions. Jared Leto joining the cast of Denis Villeneuve's Blade Runner 2 isn't an apocalyptic event, folks.

Alcon announced Leto is joining the cast, which will be lead by Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling, in a "key role" but would not specify anything having to do with the story other than their usual "it takes place many decades after the events of the first film" and that Ford is returning as Rick Deckard.

Key role could mean he's in it for 3 minutes. Joanna Cassidy and James Hong played "key roles" in the original and they get, like, two scenes each.

Plus I don't automatically hate Jared Leto. In real life he's not exactly the kind of guy I'd like to hang out with, but I don't have an issue with his acting. The problem with his Joker wasn't in the performance, necessarily, but how the character was written.

Him being attached doesn't make me any more excited for Blade Runner 2, but it doesn't sour me on the movie either. I think Villeneuve is casting him for a reason, so why not trust in his rock solid casting track record? Maybe I'm alone in those thoughts, but damn it they're mine!

What about you folks?
