Repulsion is taking in CHOCOLAT

Hey folks, Harry here... and being a Chocolate lover since I was first able to gnaw on a pair of bunny ears... And having seen the lush looking creaminess of Hallstrom's CHOCOLAT... I am looking forward to seeing this film... however, I probably won't be able to review till after Christmas as I'll be leaving the country December 12 through Christmas on a mission of epic proportions! However, here are the 10 things that Repulsion learned from watching CHOCOLAT....

So a preview screening was held yesterday and the film is mostly done, and here is a rather quick run-down of some thoughts that went through my mind while seeing this film. A fine film fairy tale if there ever was one, and a sure-fire Oscar contender for Best Picture, but completely forgettable in how it hawks simple morality tales to people who live for Oprah's Book of the Month Club:

TOP 10 THINGS I LEARNED AT THE SCREENING OF MIRAMAX'S CHOCOLAT

10. If wet, Juliette Binoche can pass as Julia Roberts' older sister.

9. Claire Denis' brilliant debut film Chocolat will never be watched by as many people as Lasse Hallstrom's Chocolat.

8. Despite the fact that I've hated chocolate all my life, I can still be convinced that it is good, causes orgasms, tame prudishness, and can single-handedly bring down facism.

7. When your surrounded by slow-witted wife beaters, never say anything like "Something must be done" because chances are that the slow-witted might construe that as a call for violence.

6. Erykah Badu is not in this film.

5. Getting beat up by your husband may cause retardation or paranoid schizophrenia.

4. Leaving your husband and eating chocolate will restore lost brain cells.

3. A condescending and simple-minded attack on patriarchal religion is actually better than a story about dying orphans with a thinly-veiled pro-choice theme.

2. If you are in a film by Lasse Hallstrom and you believe your daughter to be dead, roll around in the mud and look behind you because someone has a surprise for you.

1. If you are in a theatre watching a film like Chocolat and everyone is laughing, chances are that you are NOT at the all-media screening.
