Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Today has been filled with dragons for me. There was a local premiere of the Pete's Dragon remake today preceding some interview time with writer/director David Lowery and writer Toby Halbrooks, so I got to catch the movie (accompanied by my two favorite movie buddies, my 5 and 9 year old nephews) and chat up the folks behind it afterwards.
I know David Lowery a little bit. Believe it or not before he became a big ol' director sensation he would kill time in the old AICN chat room and even contributed a few reviews to this very site. When I relaunched the BTS column he reached out with some shots from his remake that he wanted to contribute. I love it when filmmakers get involved here.
Below you'll find a trio of photos from the New Zealand shoot of Pete's Dragon featuring a teetering truck, a big green balloon stand-in and the film's young star helping the crew behind the scenes with a delicate crane shot.
Enjoy!

Tomorrow's pic turns to one of my favorite Hitchcock films. Not one of his big, famous ones either... See ya' then!
