Ahmed Best... Is he the most annoying creation on planet Earth'

Tonight, Quint came over... we watched disc 1 of the X-FILES Season 2 DVD set, and enjoyed the masterful series to its fullest. Afterwards, we watched the TRAFFIC trailer... followed closely by attempting to see the new MEXICAN trailer (starring Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts) over on Entertainment Tonight's website... but it seems it isn't working at all... But there was a note about Ahmed Best and his series of interviews and segments at StarWars.com.

I've been doing my best to just sort of avoid alot of the hoopla this time out over STAR WARS EPISODE 2... there is quite a bit of nonsense all over the place being emailed... the split between fans loving and hating Episode One and the resulting fire and venom spewed in Talk Back about STAR WARS had just left a bad taste in my mouth. STAR WARS has always been the uniting science fiction/fandom force... and after Episode One, it seems to have become a force for division and anger. Something that I am not a fan of.

So tonight, being in a goofy mood I decided at long last to download all of the Ahmed Best interviews... all 18. After watching all 18 interviews conducted by Ahmed Best, I have to say... JAR JAR is only 1/100th as annoying as the man behind him.

As I have stated, I love Jar Jar Binks... It is my firm belief that George has something up his sleeve which will completely transform the way we look at this simple, goofy character... and when that happens there may very well be a complete reversal by fandom as to how they perceive Mr Binks... THAT being said... There can be no possible salvation for the headache that Ahmed Best just gave me.

Perhaps it was just watching them all at once... maybe it was like consuming an entire 7/11 Slurpee in one gulp... a formula for instant pain... But watching Ahmed bob about like a pigeon on acid... Shoving two fingers at the screen while punching the words "TWO" and "PEACE" and stumbling about.... Or possibly the scared and frightened look on people's face as this strange scary hyperman moved the mike around... trying to pick up sound from inanimate objects that he forgets don't talk... to brainwashing a poor little girl desperate to get a job on Episode 2.... Well, it just screamed... STAR WARS atrocity... in that same kitschy fun way that the STAR WARS CHRISTMAS SPECIAL grabs ya.

My favorite parts were when George Lucas submitted to Ahmed... There's this fun bemused sparkle in George's eyes as though he knows... FANS ARE GOING TO: 1) Love the behind the scenes looks 2)Get Ahmed shooved down their collective throats and 3)Get no real news about the film at all. But ya know... that's fine. These are just supposed to be fun goofy things, and at that level they succeed. However, if only they could have gotten Salacious Crumb to handle the interviews... hehehehe...

In the early interviews we were being treated to sexy Australian Star Wars babes to introduce Ahmed... now... well they seem to be in scarce numbers. As Quint feels... if George has Ahmed doing interviews on set... then perhaps he'll be spending less time doing Jar Jar. And that is what the rumors seem to be saying is the case. But I have to admit a particular fondness to watching Ahmed perform Jar Jar to the little girl that had been acting since the age of a negative 2, and has a sister she claims to be her favorite Star Wars Character. Poor little girl... hehehe... OH... And watching George bounce around the whole, "Well this one follows the last one, which is before the old ones which are after the one we haven't filmed yet, which comes after this one...." Oh... a joy. hehehe... I'm sort of curious what all of you think of the Ahmed Best EPISODE 2 behind the scenes looks... Talk back...

Before you begin flaming me... SERIOUSLY.... Go look at all 18 Behind The Scenes Ahmed Best interviews in a row. One of the key annoyances isn't him... so much as the format... same basic intro and close out... when seen 18 times in a row.... well... you'll see. I don't have anything against Ahmed Best.... I'm the original Jar Jar lover... I was just curious what other people thought of seeing all 18 in a row... it does something to your brain I tell ya!
