Bret Baier: Last thing, have you ever seen the movie “Caddyshack”?
Dalai Lama: What?
Baier: “Caddyshack,” the movie.
Dalai Lama: I don’t know.
Baier: The part about the Dalai Lama. Have you ever played golf?
Dalai Lama: No.
Baier: You’re not a big hitter?
Dalai Lama: In badminton.
Baier: But not golf?
Dalai Lama: No.
Baier: There’s a classic movie called “Caddyshack” where they talk about the Dalai Lama.
Dalai Lama: I see.
Baier: I had to ask you about it.
Dalai Lama: I don’t know.
Baier: Well thank you very much for the time.
Okay:
1) Why didn’t Baier end the interview by jumping up on his chair and yelling, “Hey everybody, we’re all going to get laid!”
2) One wonders if The Lama will now finally pop “Caddyshack” into his Blu-ray player.
When the Dalai Lama visited Minnesota governor Jesse Venture 15 years ago hoping the “Predator” star would help address Chinese human rights violations, Ventura took advantage of the opportunity.
"I asked him the most important question, I think, that you could ask him — if he'd ever seen Caddyshack," Ventura said in a WCCO radio interview.
The Lama’s response was the same in 2001 as it was in 2016. "He's never seen the film. He knew nothing about it."
