Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Alright, fellow game enthusiasts. E3 is around the corner, which means big leaks are happening and the game studios are forced to release their big announcements a little early. That's what happened today with the big new Destiny expansion this morning and now Bungie has gone into full "fuck it, here it is" mode.
I've been playing since Day 1 and it's been a little sad watching my Raid group fall away, losing interest as some of the more frustrating cieling hitting aspects of the game have come apparent.
The Taken King brought them back for a while, but now they've fallen off again, but I can tell you from the huge string of texts from all my friends this afternoon that this new trailer has gotten them pumped for Destiny again.
Yes, it's cool they're finally bring the Gjallarhorn back (it was a popular weapon that was left behind in "Year One" stuff, which essentially nerfed it to the point not being useful anymore), but more than anything this expansion looks like it's bringing significant levels, strikes and challenges into the universe.
If you've been playing on 360 or PS3, it's time to upgrade, guys. The new Destiny expansion is only available on the current gen consoles (Xbone and PS4). Don't worry, your achievements, rank, armor, ammo, weapons, etc all carry over to current gen, as long as you stay with the same platform (PS3 to PS4 or Xbox 360 to Xbox One). That's my understanding, anyway. This is good news. I've heard from some friends in the gaming world that a lot of Bungie's ambitions were handcuffed by having to work on last gen consoles.
When Bungie's A team is on Raid design and planning it's kind of magic. I don't know if I've had more fun in my adult gaming life than working through the Vault of Glass Raid in first game.
Pre-orders are open now at Gamestop, which nets you the new Iron Gjallarhorn automatically, and will run you $30. The pre-order bonus will be good at wherever you pre-order. If Amazon wakes up soon, I'll update with links there, too.
September 20th, folks. Get excited!
