The Rock drops a teaser poster for Disney's MOANA!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I'm very much looking forward to Disney's Moana. First of all, there's some great creative talent involved, including Little Mermaid and Aladdin directors Ron Clements and John Musker. Dwayne Johnson and Alan Tudyk will contribute voices as well.

Secondly, I've got a gigantic soft spot for Polynesian culture. You can thank my time in New Zealand, probably, but even as a kid I was fascinated by the culture and Disney has a little to do with that. The Tikki Room at Disneyland was an attraction I remember vividly from my first childhood trip to the park.

Between The Tikki Room and Lilo & Stitch, this culture is no stranger to Disney, but they haven't really dug into the mythology there before Moana. That, more than anything, is the reason I'm psyched to see what they come up with for this new animated feature. There's so much rich storytelling there.

The Rock debuted a poster for Moana today via Twitter, promising a teaser trailer hitting this Sunday. Here's the poster:

I saw a little bit of Moana at D23 last year, involving a little girl's relationship with the sea, which was done in a very Disney way: the sea was a character, waves interacting with the young girl in playful, friendly way. It was beautiful and I expect the feature will be even better.

Thoughts?
