Spider-Man: Homecoming nabs another young star!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. There's a reason studios cast up their franchise pictures super young. Especially their superhero franchises. You can trace that back to Bryan Singer's first X-Men film. They want these people to be able to play these characters for a generation. Robert Downey Jr. was an exception to the rule and one that Jon Favreau had to fight tooth and nail to make happen.

Usually it's an eye-roller when they cast teenagers as grown superheroes, but with Spider-Man it actually fits the character and the universe. Instead of viewing it as a crafty bean-counter move I see it actually benefiting this adaptation. It's exciting to me that the new Spider-Man is a kid, not a 30 year old playing 18. Tom Holland has already proven he's gonna be great as both Peter Parker AND Spider-Man (and that duality is something we have yet to see get in any live action Spider-Man film) and the growing cast around Spider-Man: Homecoming is equally awesome.

We already have Robert Downey Jr's Tony Stark popping up, presumably as a mentor to young Master Parker, Marissa Tomei as Aunt May, Michael Keaton as the villain (it's confirmed that it's Vulture, right?), Zendaya and now another youngster has joined up. Michael Barbieri is in talks to join the movie, per Deadline.

Barbieri is one of those young actors who is going to be in everything. I haven't seen his Sundance career-launcher (LITTLE MEN), but I hear good things and that word of mouth is supported by his incredible success recently. Not only is in Spider-Man, he's also joined up with The Dark Tower playing a friend of Jake Chambers.

We don't know who Barbieri is going to be in Spider-Man yet, but I'm sure he's gonna be a pal of Puny Parker.

Thoughts?
