A new Pennywise is on deck for Andy Muschietti's adaptation of Stephen King's IT!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Looks like the cinematic adaptation of Stephen King's IT is pushing forward. Cary Fukunaga dropped out and so did his choice of Pennywise (Will Poulter). Now we have Mama director Andy Muschietti in and he's picked his own personification of evil.

He went with Hemlock Grove's Bill Skarsgard.

Skarsgard definitely has the insanity behind the eyes and with the right makeup could be very unsettling as one of Stephen King's most fucked up monsters. He joins Jaeden Lieberher, Finn Wolfhard, Jack Dylan Grazer, Wyatt Oleff, Chosen Jacobs and Jeremy Ray Taylor in this story of kids banding together to fight a supernatural child-killing evil clown.

The studio is still planning on two movies, the first of which will focus on the group as kids and the second focusing on them reuniting as adults to once and for all end Pennywise's reign of terror.

Fukunaga's take moved up the timeline a little bit from King's story, which went from the '50s to the '80s. If they're sticking with his take then this one will be '80s kids and modern day adults.

I wish Skarsgard luck. He's got some mighty big clown shoes to fill. Whatever you think of the '90s made for TV miniseries Tim Curry was flat out iconic in the role.
