Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I'm conflicted over this trailer, I gotta be honest. The Space Between Us was not on my radar at all, so I'm happy to find out about a coming of age tale with a sci-fi bent starring people like Gary Oldman and young Asa Butterfield, but I also feel that this trailer pretty much shows us the entire movie.
The set up is pretty great: an astronaut sent to colonize Mars finds out she's pregnant and gives birth to the first space baby who now has to grow up on Mars as part of humans' first colonization attempt.
Dig it and I kinda think the trailer should have been mostly that, but instead it shows us the romance angle and I get the feeling most of what we see in the trailer comes from the second and third acts of the film.
It's probably smart, because that YA fanbase eats the sickly romance angle up, but as a fan of storytelling I can't help but get a little peeved when a trailer acts more as a summary of a film than a tease, but that's probably just me.
