Hey folks, Harry here.... somewhere beneath the streets of Los Angeles, the good prof.... Moriarty is whipping Mongo within an inch of his artificially genetically tampered life. You see... Mongo has been attached to Kirsten Dunst and is supposed to report on her every movement... including on film... and Moriarty missed this screening. He's in anguish... tormented... for his loved one dawned upon a screen and gave it the radiance of her beauty and he was not there to bask within her glow. Well too bad for him.... and way cool for our Guy! He's been an AICN spy for years now... and he's back yet again... here we go...BEWARE OF TON OF SPOILERS!!!
Harry!
Long time, no speak. Hope this makes up for it a bit. I haven't read anything online about this movie yet, so let me break y'all in!
I went to a test of Get Over It last night in Granada Hills, CA. I'm not totally sure how I feel about the movie because I'm 27 and the movie is really more for high school people. But any way you cut it, Kirsten Dunst is awesome. Okay fine, she can act, and damn, that girl is a piece of ass.
So here's the gist. Allison is the hottest transfer student at school, who starts dating Berk (Ben Foster), who's kind of a lovable loser (that's original...not). But when Allison shit-cans Berk, he turns into this sniveling wimp who mopes around trying to figure out ways to get Allison back. Meanwhile, Allison hooks up with the school theater stud (is there such a thing?), Striker. Allison and Striker decide to try out for the school play, so Berk decides that he will too in order to be near Allison. Knowing nothing about theater, he goes to his best friend's newly blossomed little sister, Kelly (Kirsten Dunst) to get her to help him with his Shakespeare. So basically Berk falls for Kirsten (did I mention she's hot?), Berk tries to kick Striker's ass, Berk's bestfriend freaks because it seems like he's falling for Kirsten, and Allison decides she wants Berk again. When all is said and done, Berk has his shot at getting Allison back again, but chooses Kirsten instead and they all live happily ever after.
Some of the scenes in the movie are kinda corny at times, but I guess those are the ones that stick in my mind as pretty funny too. Ben Foster is pretty good except in the basketball scenes where I don't buy him for a second. Apparently Foster was on Freaks and Geeks, but I don't remember him. The girl who played Allison was lame, but did I mention that Kirsten is hot? Sisqo is okay at best, but Carmen Electra makes up for it with her dominatrix act...YEAH!! And Kirsten Dunst is hot. The one part that I absolutely loved was the opening with Vitamin C and all of the people dancing down the street, especially the garbage men. Oh, and any movie that has a humping dog gets high marks in my book.
One of the best things I can say about this movie is that it's pretty hip in the same way that I sort of remember Sixteen Candles and the other Hughes movies being hip for its time. It will probably date itself after a few years, but by then those money grubbers at Miramax will have milked it for all its worth. Although I wouldn't be caught dead seeing this movie by myself, I would take a chick to it. In fact, I'd take as many chicks as I could because of the major score potential here. I overheard a couple of teenies weenies chatting afterwards who seemed to love it. For me, it was okay. For all the 16 year old chicks and the two guys in front of me who were trying to get in all of their pants, it rocked. Oh and Kirsten Dunst is hot.
