RobinP and a look at the DINOTOPIA set!!!

Hey folks, Harry here with a Coaxial Update from the wondrous RobinP... who braved being fed to the dinos to take these shots and do some downright investigating to get us the inside skinny on the fat of this project... We've run a couple of photos in the past from the DINOTOPIA set... and now we gots more... This is to be a mini-series coming I believe in 2002... there's a lot of post production on this one. But here ya go.....

Harry,

RobinP here, reporting from deepest, darkest North Wales, where a few weeks ago, I was lucky enough to visit the one of the exterior sets of the upcoming (in 2002, I believe) ABC miniseries, "Dinotopia".

This set is "The Hatchery" and was built on a cliffside overlooking a small cove on a beach near the small village of Tudweiliog (don't even try to pronounce it) in Gwynedd, North Wales. The first shots, taken on our approach from the rear of the set, show its humble origins as a corrugated iron-built barn. The stone base is a really impressive looking fake. Swinging round to the front, we see the structure as I assume it will be seen on screen.

I have also included a shot from the book, which shows the hatchery with a windmill type assembly, I guess this will be added as an effect in post production. (Thanks to Andrew Ellis for passing than on to me).

Filming at this location took about a week, before they moved on to Llanberis, where much of "Dragonslayer" and "First Knight" were filmed.
