Here's the new (and much better) Ghostbusters trailer!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Guess the morning shift didn't show up, so here's the big new Ghostbusters trailer that debuted in the wee hours of the morning.

When the first trailer hit I was optimistic, but critical. I like Paul Feig, I like the cast and I like the look of the supernatural we got glimpses of in the first trailer, but I was a little peeved at how all the ghosts were humanoid and not the crazy hodgepodge of spooks I was hoping for.

That critique was obviously premature because this trailer is all weird-ass ghosts. Dragon ghosts, a new riff on the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, parade ghost balloons and even a possessed Chris Hemsworth.

I'm also glad they're being a little more honest with this trailer, not trying to have their cake and eat it as well by promising this is a follow up to the originals when it's way more in the remake/reboot camp. In retrospect that was the worst part about that first trailer and felt like some slimy ad guy somewhere (who in my mind looks an awful lot like Paul Reiser in Aliens) thought he was a genius for tying in the original films directly to get people into the theaters, thinking this was going to be one of those Legacy Sequels (like Episode 7 or Tron).

Anyway, here's the much better trailer:

I think it still looks a little CGI overloaded, but the tone feels more consistent already. Speaking of, it could be Kate McKinnon's look influencing my view of the overall tone, but am I alone in that this feels a little bit more like The Real Ghostbusters cartoon than the original movies? That's not a bad thing, by the way, just an observation.

What do you folks think?
