Hey folks, Harry here... When THE BIRTH OF A NATION debuted at Sundance, it blew audiences away, was enthusiastically picked up the film to the tune of the highest priced deal in the entire history of Sundance - and now Fox Searchlight is beginning the campaign to release the film in October of this year. Today, here's the Living Poster, as they call it:
See, nifty! Here's the regular ol poster

I love the idea of this film at this point. D.W. Griffith's BIRTH OF A NATION is very much an epic of its time, watching the film with modern eyes, it is a repugnant look a delusional insane era, that lazy minded people seem to still long for. Here are a pair of posters for the original film..

D.W. Griffith's film was the recruitment film, nationwide for the ignorant 'entitled' class that embraced the idea of White Supremacy - something in common with the very worst people upon our planet. I mean, sure, the Clansman iconography is offensive, but look how Griffith handled this dark chapter in history:

Behold the assassination of Lincoln... Far stronger are the new images, where we find emblazoned in the RED of the American flag, a color meant to stand for HARDINESS & VALOUR - which to me is exactly what the Slave Revolt of 1831 led by Nat Turner. Tackling hurtful iconography and history, by suggesting a different BIRTH OF A NATION in which no man or woman would be enslaved... Nate Parker's film gets released October 7th of this year. I can't wait to see it!
Keep it cool,
Harry
