Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I just got back home from a whirlwind European vacation and saw the crazy news that not only was the long-gestating MEG adaptation finally steering towards production after nearly 20 years of development hell, but they have a lead.
It seems like Jason Statham is going to star in the flick (Variety says he's in negotations, but I've heard from someone close to the production who says Statham is, in fact, signed). That's right, Jason Statham versus a prehistoric monster shark! Somewhere Tom Jane is smiling and giving a thumbs up.
The story has the Meg surfacing off the coast of China (a change from the book). This Great White ancestor was believed to have been more than double the size of the shark from Jaws.
Naturally this story is right in my wheelhouse. There are very few decent killer shark movies out there, but damn do I love 'em.
