Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Blade Runner 2 is actually happening, you guys. How crazy is this? And the cast keeps getting better and better. Harrison Ford will return as Dekkard and we know Ryan Gosling's the new lead for Denis Villeneuve's re-entry into the world Ridley Scott so expertly crafted for us almost 35 years ago.
Now Alcon has announced that they're close to signing Robin Wright in an undisclosed role and I'm just about over the moon. She demands attention whenever she's on screen and has a quiet power that's an absolute perfect fit for this universe.
Alcon's press release states that photography starts in July and confirms that the sequel takes place "several decades" after the events of the first movie. That's curious wording. Why not just say three decades or 30 years or something like that?
Could be the press release author thought several sounded better, but what if there's something more there and it's a massive time jump? If Dekkard is a replicant his aging could be different, assuming, of course, that he'd be like Rachel and not have the four-year kill switch like the Nexus 6 replicants... and all the women just tuned out. Shit, sorry.
Anyway, Robin Wright casting is great. I can't wait to see what Villeneuve does with this thing.
