Hello ladies and gentlemen, Muldoon here and while the insanity of SXSW is likely going to be covered here, there, and pretty much anywhere you look this weekend, it's definitely not the only "cool" thing going on right now. The folks at Rooster Teeth have just released a trailer for their new show CRUNCH TIME. Whatever your opinions on the "Red Vs. Blue" masterminds might be, one thing's for sure - they're currently on fire. The Austin, TX company produces original content daily, just released their first feature LAZER TEAM, and boasts a few fan conventions a year. Who would have thought? I won't say I saw it coming, but am more than glad Burnie Burns, Matt Hullum, and their ever growing team of talent are around and producing content left and right. One of their latest ventures, CRUNCH TIME just released the trailer below, so let's take a look!
Crunch Time is an edgy half-hour comedy series from the creative team of Andrew Disney and Bradley Jackson (Balls Out) and is set to premiere this September for Rooster Teeth Sponsors only. Directed by Disney, written by Disney and Jackson, and co-produced with Ralph Smyth Entertainment, Crunch Time features a principal cast that includes: Nick Rutherford (Good Neighbor, Balls Out) as Berkman, Jessy Hodges (Hindsight) as Hannah, Avery Monsen (High Maintenance, Maron) as Sam, Samm Levine (Freaks and Geeks, Inglourious Basterds) as Connor, Kirk Johnson (Lazer Team, Balls Out) as Larry, Brent Morin (Undateable) as Agent Hobbs, Michael Hyatt (Nightcrawler, The Wire) as Agent Mullins, and Jade Catta-Preta (Manhattan Love Story, Girl Code) as Victoria Wain.
Crunch Time follows a group of grad students who use big science for petty purposes. After recklessly handling cutting-edge tech in their school lab, this brilliant team of jackasses create a small, but potentially world-ending black hole that grabs the attention of government operatives. Since the “wanna-be” scientists can’t pinpoint exactly where their experiment went wrong, they must work with the secret government agency, sent in to save the day, by detailing EVERY illegal thing they’ve done in the lab thus far.
The show will be part of Rooster Teeth's new subscription based platform, of which I know little about, but feel it's safe to assume will do just fine as the army of Rooster Teeth fans seem to be growing exponentially. I snuck on to the set for CRUNCH TIME back when they were shooting and hope to have a detailed set visit, along with interviews from the cast, when it comes closer to premiering. The trailer looks like fun, but again - that's just my opinion.
What about you folks, what do you think? Is this something you'll be catching?
