Hey folks, Harry here... There are things in life you never expect. That the Republican side of this Presidential election has an actor from Bo Derek's GHOSTS CAN'T DO IT and another that played a doctor in the Farrelly Bros' STUCK ON ME... I never saw coming. The Doctor dropped out, but the one that got beat on a deal by Bo Derek, well that's Donald Trump - and he's leading the charge on the Republican side of things.
But today - just now really... SONY has THE BROTHERS GRIMSBY, the next Sacha Baron Cohen shock comedy - and in it, Donald Trump gets AIDS... and apparently at screenings, shockingly, the revelation is met with thunderous applause. The film isn't due for release until the 11th of the month, but the word we're hearing is that SONY is actually contemplating cutting the scene entirely from the film, rather than incur the wrath of TRUMP.
When SONY pulled THE INTERVIEW due to threats from North Korea and Kim Jong Un - it was inconveivable to me. But if Tom Rothman and the team he's assembled are so chickenshit as to pull a punch on THE GREAT SCHMUCK... Then they need to just stop making movies altogether. Sony owns UNITED ARTISTS which originally released Chaplin's THE GREAT DICTATOR, the single best volley at Hitler and the intolerable actions he was taking prior to the U.S. entering the war. The History of the movie studio that SONY has acquired has a history of standing up to the monsters of socienty - as well as just the bad jokes of society.
TRUMP is a joke, a cheap joke that may come back to kick us all in the ass some day, but now is the time not cower, but to let the jokes fly. If Trump can't take a joke it is yet again another example of why the man should not hold the highest office in the land - and we should not censor our art for fear of political reprisals here at home. If this scene gets cut - then we're in a kind of trouble I'm not sure the U.S. can recover from. Here's the original article!
