While Gene Hackman’s Lex Luthor tried to commit mass murder (by drowning millions of Californians in the Pacific), Jessie Eisenberg’s Luthor actually gets it done.
And he doesn’t even seem to have a profit motive this time around.
I’d say that puts him on Hitler’s level.
From Entertainment Weekly:
The rage and anxiety of these two characters [Batman and Superman] is manipulated by Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg), a billionaire sociopath with a God complex of his own who takes joy in bringing the powerful to their knees. Luthor not only [slight spoiler alert] orchestrates a mass murder aimed at turning the two heavy hitters against each other but also uses some Kryptonian relics left behind from the Man of Steel aftermath to cook up a cosmic mutant Frankenstein— Doomsday, partially built from the remains of Michael Shannon’s General Zod.
On a side note, I think what all the superhero movies and TV shows have taught us is that in real life masks and cowls would do a really shitty job of hiding one’s secret identity. Is anybody having trouble figuring out if that's George Clooney, Michael Keaton or Ben Affleck on the new EW cover?
I think if you’re serious about keeping your secret identity secret, you really need to go the Deadpool/Spider-Man/Iron Man route and keep the chin, lips and eyes covered.
“Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice” fights its way into cinemas in three weeks.
